On my walk: A poem

Or…Amazing how colors triggered a memory

I saw this white bike, the white car and then the red jeep. BOOM ! Into my mind it flew, that wonderful classic one sentence poem by William Carlos Williams. Out came my phone and I clicked away. You probably know the poem about a red wheelbarrow, some rain and white chickens. Due to copyright laws I’m unable to give you the poem, but I’ve put the website in Kay’s Notes where you’ll find it. ” The Red Wheelbarrow”

On my walk…On the way home!

Or…A pretty photo I almost missed!

The photo doesn’t come close to capturing the overall beauty of this brownstone’s window! I had walked to Central Park on one side of the street and didn’t even notice it. After the Park, I walked back on the other side of the same street. That’s when I saw this brownstone and thought, wow, how could I have missed that!

KAY’S NOTES: I was going to use a photo of the whole brownstone, but it didn’t do justice to the prettiest part, the window!

On my walk…Tick Tock!

Or…What tells time, has dancing animals, plays music and makes everyone smile?

The famous Delacorte Music Clock near the Children’s Zoo in Central Park. Every hour a different nursery rhyme plays as the animals rotate and turn around the clock. On the half hour, it also plays but the music doesn’t last as long. Just so you know, in case you didn’t, there is a goat, a kangaroo, a penguin, a bear and a hippo each playing a different instrument. I think the hippo playing a violin is my favorite. Couldn’t resist making this clock, my photo of the day.

KAY’S NOTES: The Central Park Zoo and the Children’s Zoo are both closed right now, however, the Park is open and looking really, really nice!

On my walk…Simple Pleasures.

Or…Good old fashioned window shopping at Bloomies!

Not quite a Breakfast at Tiffany’s moment… I already had two cups of coffee before I left. But you know, Audrey could have worn any of these and looked smashing!

KAY’S NOTES: I love window shopping. I thought a photo of Tiffany’s windows could be fun. Then I remembered, their windows are bare when the store is closed. But maybe, just maybe, an empty Tiffany window might be interesting. I’ll check it out when my morning walk heads in that direction. Stay tuned!

On my walk: A Green Canopy

Or…Glad whoever thought of this- thought of it!

Came upon this pleasant surprise while walking. Look how just a little bit of greenery turned what is usually pretty ugly scaffolding into a canopy of lush ivy!

KAYS NOTES: Early morning hours are for walkers, some with their dogs, runners, joggers, and us older folks. Everyone wearing their masks.

On my walk! No words!

Or…Is this really 3rd Avenue in NYC?

STAY SAFE AND WEAR A MASK.

KAY’S NOTES:The City is closing some streets and avenues for easier pedestrian walking and keeping the social distancing. This is not one of them.

What to do when the places you love are all closed!

OR…I am very lucky that I can walk early in the morning when few people are out. I wear my mask, my gloves, my hat and use my cane.

Since my favorite places are not open I’ve decided to post on my blog, the sights that I see on the morning when I take my walk

On my walk…So many ways to get around on this corner…the tram, the bridge, the bus, or like me…the feet!

Love this city!

Kay….Stay safe and wear a mask!
